Data Sheet ASTM A532 Class II Type B Chrome White Iron

ASTM A532 Class II Type B High Chromium AlloyMiscellaneous high chrome white iron liners for the mining industry.
The 15%Cr alloy is typically poured on request at Penticton Foundry. With the lower Cr and an addition of molybdenum, this alloy is used in operating environments where abrasion and impact are the wear mechanisms. With specific heat treatments it is possible to achieve a high hardness for abrasion resistance, and with a lower carbide ratio the toughness is improved for impact. A Mo addition improves the hardenability. With the lower Cr this material has lower corrosion resistance properties. To find out why chrome white iron is so abrasion resistant, read this.

Applications
This alloy meets the requirements for many applications like mining crusher liners, feed-chute liners, apron-feed liners, semi-autogenous ball mill liners, lifter bars, sizing grates, verti-mill liners and slurry pumps.

This alloy is also used in roller crusher applications. The roller crushers are used to grind coal, limestone, cement, phosphate rock and other soft to medium hard minerals.

Balls in cement clinker mills are another example of where this alloy may be used.
