Purchasing Manager

Location – Penticton, British Columbia, Canada

Salary – Salary with bonus incentives

Experience Requirements – 5+ years of related experience, preferably in a manufacturing environment at a supervisory or management level

Education Requirements – Advanced post-secondary education that highlights your competencies in business, procurement and supply chains (such as an SCMP designation)

Position Information – Permanent full-time (Monday to Friday 8:00am – 4:30pm), with some travel required

Responsibilities

Procurement

You’ll follow Penticton Foundry’s procurement standards for executing supply contracts, obtaining quotes, researching suppliers, and developing and maintaining supply chains. You’ll administer complex purchase orders, review receiving, and ensure transactional accuracy. You’ll monitor supplier performance and provide supplier audit reports.

Ongoing procurement activities include:

  • Arrange domestic and international shipments of supplies and equipment
  • Submit USMCA documents as required
  • Seasonal strategies and supply risk mitigation
  • Primary contact with agents and vendors
  • Manage onboarding of new suppliers, and ensure adherence to company policies and procedures
  • Keep abreast of market trends, and provide detailed price information and forecasts
  • Ensure compliance with provincial sales tax and other jurisdictional taxes
  • Maintain accuracy of the ERP software and the procurement information contained therein
  • Provide monthly and quarterly reports for senior management and the Board of Directors
  • Care of general ledger coding of expenditures
  • Maintenance and capital project assistance and procurement recommendations
  • Assist with compliance with WHMIS and dangerous goods handling, storage and disposal

Inventory

  • Regularly review inventory levels and ensure accuracy of inventory information contained in the ERP
  • Consider operational supply demands and work to prevent stock-out situations
  • Pursue opportunities to improve inventory management systems and services
  • Monitor and assist in disposition of waste and scrap

Inventory

  • Work closely and collaboratively with production and administrative personnel

Requirements

  • You have experience with accounts payable, data analysis and ERP development
  • You have experience with Microsoft Office products like Excel and Outlook
  • Your organizational and analytical skills are excellent
  • You have a collaborative communication style, which makes you a great team player
  • You’re self-motivated and process driven
  • You couple a strong work ethic with an ability to prioritize and problem solve
  • You’re a strong relationship builder
